Passive Low Energy-consumption Buildings in Yangtze River Delta Enter a New Era of Promotion

On November 5, 2012, Landsea Group signed MOU with DENA of Germany in Beijing. Within the framework of the MOU, DENA would collaborate with Landsea Group to develop, design and build the low energy-consumption and passive energy-efficient buildings. That was the first time for DENA to sign such strategic agreement with an enterprise. The first collaborative project between them is the Brooke Passive House Hotel project on the shore of theTaihuLakein Changxing, which was completed at the end of March this year. It is also the first passive house project in the Yangtze River Delta region and the first project in China adopting the Green Building 3-star, German DGNB and US LEED certification standards. It has provided the first-hand data and information for building passive house standards in the Yangtze River Delta region.
To further push forward the strategic collaboration, Landsea and DENA held a special meeting on February 26 this year. After understanding the implementation of Brooke project, both parties believed it was necessary to promote standardization of passive houses in the Yangtze River Delta region. They agreed to, at the Green Building Conference at the end of March, invite the Ministry of Housing and Urban & Rural Development to organize a three-party meeting attended by the Ministry, DENA and Landsea Group to discuss technical standards and market promotion of passive low energy-consumption buildings in the Yangtze River Delta region.
On the afternoon of March 29, “Seminar on Technical Standards and Market Promotion of Passive Low Energy-consumption Buildings in the Yangtze River Delta Region” was held in Beijing International Convention Center. Focusing on standards of passive houses in the Yangtze River Delta region, the officials and specialists from the Ministry of Housing and Urban & Rural Development, DENA, LUWOGE (a German consultancy company of passive houses) and Landsea Group discussed and analyzed technical points of all aspects about passive house design, construction and purchase in the climate environment and market conditions in the region. They reached the initial consensus on the future work plan and also agreed to build a demo residence project of passive houses. By considering the climate in the region, project cost and market needs, they would study and confirm all indicators as well as the design and construction standards of passive houses in the Yangtze River Delta region.
All the participating parties hoped that Landsea Group could take use of its over a decade’s experience in developing highly-comforting and low energy-consumption buildings and promoting nearly 40 projects to play a significant role pushing in promoting passive houses in China, in particular in the Yangtze River Delta region.
